School, churches, clubs, non-profits all have events. Most school events are fundraisers. Our K-8 has three fundraisers each year: The auction, the carnival and the LAP-A-THON. The lapathon gets a lot of attention from families as EVERY student participates. Tons of parents, or should I say, tons of potential clients, volunteer before and during the event. If you only think about cutting a check and having a banner, you are missing GREAT opportunities at a Lap-a-Thon. Here are some ideas for a school Lap-A-Thon:
T-shirts – usually a student designs the shirt, but they cost money to print and have a big space on the back for a logo.
- Water bottles – Having the school name and your logo, website, tag line on a bottle is something they will use all year long, until they lose it, then someone else will see your message.
- Cool-off station – this can have a big cooler of water, something for Popsicles for after.
- Punch cards and lanyards. Each lap has to be counted. They cherish these lanyards and keep the punch cards as a memory.
- How about the lapline? It’s not really a finish line since they go around and around and around. Have some fun logoed items that your participants will love that you can brand to give each one of them.
- How about the top prizes in each grade – trophies by you, gift cards to your business, flyers they can play with, balls, etc.
- What about music where the DJ could say your commercial throughout the event?
- OK and how about that banner? Why not? A big banner with your logo, website easy to read at a distance, placed where it will be in a lot of the photos that are shared is a great idea.
